Bob's work experience includes engineering roles (15 years) at British Aerospace, General Electric Company (GEC), and the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech). He also had a decade-long career in industrial technology media as editor of publications including Control Engineering Asia, Industrial Automation Asia, and Logistics Insight Asia, and editor-in-chief at Reed Business Information Asia, Ten Alps Communications Asia, and Contineo Media.
At GEC, he was project manager for a £100,000 shop-floor data collection system, which included the successful deployment of the UK's first ever fieldbus network (WorldFIP). In Singapore, he was a member of the SIMTech project team that developed the warehouse control system for Singapore Airlines' first fully automated cargo terminal (T6). The project received the Institute of Engineers Singapore (IES) Prestigious Engineering Award in 2003.
As well as numerous articles for industry publications, he is a contributing author to the books Action Learning Cases in Organisational Behaviour (2004) and Many Ships, One Boat: Expat Tales and Tips (2011). Bob is also a frequent speaker at company and industry events in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
